Mighty Pan Pizza : Eagle Boys

In the middle of cold weather and rumbling stomach
I need to call someone that I know for sure will save my day..
YES!! The Take Aways..!!
Among the many choices including thai and chinese, I settled with pizza..
we are not talking about any gourmet pizza, domino's, or pizza hut here.
I'm talking about the pizza chain business that has a newly opened branch in Maroubra
Behold everybody.. It's the EAGLE BOYS!

A visit down to memory lane : Tony Roma's Sydney

A visit to Tony Roma's is always memorable
Those foods brought me down to memory lane..
I remembered I ordered the exact same things when I was 16 years old

We were seated near the wood fire..
I felt like I dined in at someone's home.
Very cozy and warm..

Taste of Sydney 2010

Hello Sydneysiders...
I always feel jealous towards Melbourne-ians..
Since, many great cooking courses are held in Melbourne..
and also..
I have to say, that Melbourne is the food epicenter of Australia..

Therefore, when I knew that they have this event called Taste of Sydney..
My body and soul were loaded with excitement..

Here,
You'll be exposed by many exhibitors from food to wine industries..
Those include all kitchen gadgets, and wine tasting too.

But, the most exciting thing is I can sample some of the dishes from Sydney's finest restaurants..
I have to say, they were really expensive for my uni student's budget..
Oh well.. I just can't help it..

There are rules in purchasing all the meal, and wine...
You have to purchase what they called " Crown book"
1 Crown = $ 1.
Crown books are available in $10, and $30 dollars..
and NO REFUND! *use it wisely!!*

The night before, I already browsed on the menu.
Since, I can't afford to waste my time there *every single second was priceless*..
and here are some of the photos of the food that I sampled.

Journey to the deep South- South Restaurant

Hi peeps..
As you may know from my last post..
I was looking forward to taste all the state's goodness.

After a long wait, and countless searched for the most trusted restaurant..
I finally found it..
2 days ago,  me, and friends went to South at Neutral Bay...

As we entered, we were welcomed by the waitress, and she showed us our table..
In a couple of minutes, We ordered many southern staples such as...

Lemonade..
This lemonade was the best in my culinary experience book..
It was sweet, and a little bit sour at the same time..
Very2 refreshing..
Top Notch!

Bread and butter
This was the complimentary bread

Crawfish Pie
I love the combination of yabbie, the creamy sauce and voul au vent..
Although, I wish I could get more yabbie :D:D

 BBQ ribs
Have you ever considered the ribs that just fall of their bones??
This was IT!
This is the dish that I will definitely recommend..
Unlike, most ribs that taste a bit sweet, this one will take your palate into different direction..
The sauce was tangy, spicy...
Have I mentioned the meet just fell off the bone??
* Oh HAIL BBQ Ribs*

 Here comes the main.. Baby..
Some of us were a bit disappointed since, The deliciousness of the pulled pork sandwich wasn't as what they expected..
But...I disagree...
It was just too good.. the pork was tender, and yes, the BBQ sauce just took it to another level.
*maybe we were too full after the entree*

I ordered this country fried steak
A cut of sirloin was deep in a crunchy batter, and topped with a black pepper white sauce
The beef was great, and the portion was big..
I was very full, after the entree..
Although, this was good, I couldn't finish it..
The sauce was quite mellow, however, the greens was salty
so, it gave the beef a body of flavor..

Sadly.. I have no room for dessert any more..
Definitely will come back again..

Honeymoon Dessert

Welcome to dessert hall of fame..

Today, I went to Honeymoon dessert, I ate some of their specialities before. But I haven't been there my self. So, here I am.

Since me, and my friend had our lunch already, we decided to share some of the desserts. We ordered tofu and almond pudding, snow white sago, durian, and banana pancake.

Snow White Sago

Tofu and Almond pudding

Durian Pancake

Banana Pancake

The dish of the day was definitely the snow white sago. The blend of milk (I'm just guessing here), fruits (banana, mango, and lychee), and pearls were perfect. The other delicious dish was the pancake, in particular the durian pancake. The pancake was soft. It became a blanket for the cream, which offset the richness of the durian (we are talking about a chunk of lovely durian here). Perfect...

However, the tofu and almond pudding was a let down for me. I found the almond taste was very strong, but the tofu actually tasted quite nice.

Gourmet Tofu

I've been to this restaurant for quite sometime. Today, me and my sis ordered spicy squid set and Ggan Pung Gi(is that rite?) set. This set menu comes with soft tofu soup, rice, and banchan (korean condiment). The food is nice, the owner is also nice ( I hate to go to a restaurant where we (paying customers) are not respected enough by the waitress, so their attitudes are really important point for me), but you need to be patient, it takes quite sometime for the food to be served, and this place is an option for ppl who live in eastern suburb and lazy enough to go to korean restaurant in the city. So, I reckon it's a good deal for me, I would certainly come back ^^..

This picture above was taken by my sis, I just love it.. :D

It's just an insanely good sausage roll- Bourke Street Bakery

I went to mitre10 today, to buy a portable BBQ! It means there would be some delicious BBQ coming up. Anyway, the most enjoyable moment for me today is to be able to taste the most tasties sausage roll ever. Yes, It's Bourke Street Bakery everyone.

We bought some of their famous dishes like lamb and harissa sausage roll, pork and fennel sausage roll, chocolate tart, vanilla and strawberry brulee tart and ginger brulee tart.

At the start, I wasn't sure how good this lamb and harissa sausage roll, so I just kept thinking about how good this pork and fennel sausage gonna taste. In fact, I was COMPLETELY wrong! The lamb and harissa sausage roll was superb! It was very flavoursome, a good texture going on, and it didn't taste as sour as I thought it might be (because of the harissa). Too bad, I didn't take a photo on both of the sausage rolls! But, i did take the picture of the tarts :D

Next, we cut out the pie, guess what.. The pastry was just superb, it was crumbly, and just melted straight away in your mouth *how good is that!*, the chocolate filling was really delicious, I could finish the whole pie my self. Unlike most chocolate pie that made out of dark chocolate, this one is made out of milk chocolate. yum.. yum...

The ginger brulee tart (the one with pistachio on top), and vanilla, strawberry brulee tart (just behind the ginger brulee) were really gorgeous. The vanilla, and strawbery brulee is The KING! It's custardy, the strawberry just balanced the sweet custard, and the burnt sugar at the top really completed the pie. However, I didn't really enjoy my ginger brulle tart, the caramel was really burnt (bitter), and I found the ginger was really strong.

If you go to bourke street bakery, pls make sure you get the lamb and harissa roll, the chocolate tart, and the vanilla, strawberry tart. I bet you'll be wanting for more.
